Well hello again!
With Motherโs Day right around the corner, I wanted to round up a list of quick and simple patterns for those of you who need a last minute gift idea! Motherโs Day is the perfect opportunity to use your crochet skills to make the mother figure in your life feel appreciated and loved.
What better way to show your appreciation than to create something with your own hands. Itโs a gift that will last forever and one that you know will be cherished and appreciated.

Okay, so letโs dive into this AMAZING list of patterns designed by myself and some other incredible makers!
The Dauntless Dandelion - by Junebug & James
This simple little dandelion flower is so quick and can be made in just about 30 minutes or less. If youโre in a time crunch and donโt have a lot of yarn on hand, this pattern would be the perfect choice. It takes a very small amount of super bulky or worsted weight yarn in two different colors for the stem and the flower. Itโs also worked up in only one piece, which saves you so much time with not having to sew parts together.
Create a set of 3 flowers, tie them together with a pretty ribbon in your momโs favorite color, and gift a bouquet of flowers that never die!
The Seward Dishcloth (FREE) - by Junebug & James
The Seward Dishcloth is a quick and beautiful pattern for the mom who has it all. Theyโre useful, eco-friendly, washable, and you can choose a yarn that matches her style perfectly. Quickly work up a set of 2 or 3 for her to add to her kitchen! Or, with the downloadable PDF from my shop you can make a dishcloth AND dish towel set.
My all time favorite yarn to use for dishcloths is Dishie Cotton from WeCrochet. It comes in so many colorways and has a beautiful texture. If you donโt time to order something new, I also really love Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton.

The Sweetheart Hand Towel - by Junebug & James
Create the Sweetheart Hand Towel for the mom who loves some extra color and design in her life. Using 3 different colors, you can create any beautiful combination to match your momโs interests or decor. Itโs elegant drape makes for a beautiful addition when hung over the oven handle in the kitchen.
Dishie Cotton, Hobbii Rainbow Cotton, or Lion Brand 24/7 cotton would all be equally great yarn choices for this simple project!
The Aspetuck Coaster - by Hearth and Wool
Coasters are a great option when youโre looking for a quick last minute make for Motherโs Day. You can make a set of four in one color, or make a set using a combination of colors! Find the colors that match your momโs personality and style, tie them together with some pretty twine in a bow and you have a quick and thoughtful gift to give! You can even pair them with a beautiful mug filled with your momโs favorite chocolate for an extra sweet touch.
The Aspetuck Trivet - by Hearth and Wool
Trivets are one of those simple items that just add so much beauty and character to a room. Pair your trivet with a plant to gift to your plant loving mom, or with a beautiful teapot and some local tea for the tea lover.
Friendly tip: donโt forget to check out your local thrift shop to look for teapots or vases! Gifts donโt have to be expensive, especially when they come from the heart. A beautifully thrifted teapot alongside the Aspetuck Trivet would be such a thoughtfully curated gift for the mom in your life. I might even take this idea for myself. ;)
And when it comes to yarn, using a cotton or cotton blend always works best for any items being used under heat or moisture!
The Aspetuck Nesting Baskets - by Hearth and Wool
Okay, this nesting baskets pattern was one I was SO excited to share about! You really can do quite anything with a beautiful basket. Work up a size to pair with a beautiful plant, fill one with all of your momโs favorite self-care items, or create the entire set to gift to her for her own organizational needs. This set comes with instructions to make FIVE different sized baskets!
Want some ideas for what to add to your baskets?
Here are a few things at the top of my mind!
A bath bomb, face mask, and your momโs favorite chocolate.
A bag of pocorn, a romcom DVD, and some of her favorite candy.
A bottle of wine (or whatever her drink of choice is), chocolate, and a new pair of slippers.
New gardening gloves, a packet of wildflower seeds, and a gift card to Loweโs or Home Depot.
A new tumbler, some cute stickers, and of course - chocolate again!
The Viroqua Wall Pocket - by Silver Maple Stitches
Another great gift idea for the organizational or plant loving mom is the Viroqua Wall Pocket pattern! It is SO quick to work up and can be use to store anything youโd like. Stick a beautiful plant inside, some hanks of yarn (if sheโs a fellow yarn lover), her favorite candy or a gift card and you really canโt go wrong!
The Clayton Cup Cozy - by Silver Maple Stitches
Is your mom a fellow coffee lover? What could be a better gift than a beautiful cup cozy! Gift it to her WITH her favorite drink underneath, or pair it with a gift card to her favorite coffee shop. I love being able to hand make a gift for someone you love because you can choose whichever color yarn of whatโs available to match the style of who youโre gifting to.
Choose a neutral color for your coffee loving mom who loves simplicity, or some bright yarn for the mom who loves that pop of color!
Car Hanging Plant Pattern Collection - by Squibbles Crochet Corner
This pattern would be such a perfect choice for the plant loving mom in your life! Since keeping actual plants in your cars most likely wouldnโt go well (at least, Iโve never tried it), make sure your mom never has to go without a plant she loves by making one for her to hang on her rear view mirror. With this pattern collection you can choose from three different beautiful hanging plant patterns (or make them all to gift to her!), which work up quickly if youโre in a last minute bind for what to get for Motherโs Day.
Mini Spider Plant - by Squibbles Crochet Corner
Does your mom always talk about how she does NOT have a green thumb? Maybe sheโs tried to take care of the plants in her life without a lot of success? Why not make her a plant that can never die?! Displayed on a bookshelf, her nightstand, or really anywhere she pleases - this sweet little spider plant would be such a quick and thoughtful gift idea.
Jellybee Pattern - by Oak & Marlow
Seriously, who doesnโt love an adorable bee pattern?! If I ever had the pleasure of being gifted a handmade bee by my daughter, I just know I would display it proudly in a place where it would be admired every single day.
Side story time - at my very first market, a customer was holding a cute little plushie owl I had made and very quizzically asked, โSoโฆwhat do you do with this??โ I paused, laughed a little inside, and then continued to say, โHonestly, whatever you want to do with it! Give it a name. Set it on a shelf. Admire it.โ I look back and still laugh at the seriousness of her question.
All of this to say, plushies are NOT only for kids! Anything cute is worthwhile as a gift in my book. Bees are so sweet (especially Jellybee), and would be such a thoughtful gift for the mom who loves unique, creative, and adorable things.
Mabel Chicken Pattern - by Oak & Marlow
This leads me to the last pattern on my list of quick and simple gifts for Motherโs Day - the beloved Mabel Chicken! There is literally no way a Mabel Chicken would not put a smile on your momโs face. And, sheโs SO quick to make!
Iโm telling you, at my first market the ladies LOVED the chickens. My booth neighbor even bought one just for herself! If youโre looking for something fun and unique to give, Iโd say you canโt go wrong with this adorable and quick to make pattern.
I hope this list of quick and simple crochet patterns was helpful for you! The month of May can be such a busy time of year, but you still have time to show the mother figure in your life some appreciation with a thoughtfully handmade gift.
