Hello there, friends! I’ve had the immense pleasure of teaming up with Bri, from Dear Little Dudley, with the prettiest crochet flower pattern conversion. Bri had the clever idea to create a crochet Texas bluebonnet using my Crochet Lavender Flower Pattern. With just a few simple modifications, this crochet lavender flower pattern can easily be transformed into a crochet bluebonnet. And the result is absolutely beautiful! I love Bri’s authentic creativity sharing her love of Western style, so creating a crochet bluebonnet pattern really was such a special way to collaborate as friends and crochet designers, while sharing more creative fun with our community. Thank you Bri, for bringing this beautiful idea to life and creating another addition to add to our crochet flower bouquets!

Bluebonnets are a beautiful flower native to the great state of Texas, and I only recently learned more about them and their incredible resiliency. Blooming in the springtime, bluebonnets grow on sides of highways, and in patches all over pastures and fields. I learned from Bri how picking bluebonnets is highly discouraged in Texas! What better way to honor these beautiful blooms than to be able to recreate them to enjoy in our homes, while leaving nature to thrive in its natural beauty.

So, if you’ve been on the search for a crocheted Texas bluebonnet pattern, look no further!

Color Changes that Make the Flower Read Bluebonnet

Bluebonnets have a beautiful, rich, blue color; which is just one necessary change needed to turn the lavender flower pattern into a realistic crochet bluebonnet. The original pattern uses a super bulky (size 6) weight yarn, and thankfully there are several choices available across different brands of yarn to create your bluebonnet in a beautiful blue. I always love sharing yarn and color way ideas, so here’s a quick list of blue, white, and green yarns that would work great for making your unique crocheted Texas bluebonnet.

Continue following lavender pattern as stated, following instructions for how to attach top petals and crocheting the stem.

Styling the Finished Crochet Bluebonnet

To add some extra detail to your bluebonnet, feel free to embroider white dots to various petals with the following instructions:

Step 1: Cut an 8” piece of white, super bulky (size 6) yarn.

Step 2: thread a tapestry needle with your yarn piece, and beginning underneath petal of your choice, thread the white yarn around the double crochet of your petal making about 4-5 passes around the stitch until you get your desired look.

Step 3: tie your 2 yarn tails together on the underside of your petal in 2 knots.

Step 4: weave your yarn tails back into the stem to finish off.
